Core Values Spotlight: Be Curious

At Red Dog Media, curiosity isn’t just encouraged—it’s expected. In fact, it’s one of our most vital Core Values. Being Curious goes beyond asking questions. It means diving deep, exploring bold ideas, and constantly challenging ourselves to do better.

As we see it, curiosity sparks discovery. And discovery leads to progress. Therefore, when we embrace curiosity, we unlock opportunities that move the business forward. At the same time, we foster both personal and professional growth.

Core Values: Why Curiosity Matters

In an industry that evolves quickly, staying curious is essential. After all, curiosity allows us to approach challenges with fresh perspectives. As a result, we uncover creative solutions that help us stay ahead of the competition.

At Red Dog Media, curiosity fuels experimentation and innovation. For instance, it helps us figure out what works, what doesn’t, and what we can improve. More importantly, it encourages us never to settle for “good enough.”

Because of this mindset, our culture empowers teammates to ask tough questions and dig into the data. This approach not only sharpens decision-making but also drives continuous improvement across every team.

Core Values: Curiosity in Action

Some of our most exciting innovations have come from teammates who live this core value. Here are two great examples of curiosity in action at Red Dog Media:

Tyler earned Core Value Chip recognition for writing an advanced SQL query. This query streamlined reporting for our campaign restructure. As a result, it boosted performance and helped the team hit their KPIs. More importantly, it simplified data access and enabled faster decision-making.

Dan shows curiosity through his Power BI work. He frequently dives into complex data sets and runs thoughtful experiments. Recently, his insights sparked improvements across his team. Moreover, his willingness to share findings inspired collaboration across departments.

How Red Dog Media Encourages Curiosity

We believe curiosity thrives when people have space to explore, experiment, and share ideas. Here’s how we support that:

CRO Open Office Hours

Earlier this year, our CRO team launched weekly office hours. These sessions invite teammates to share their experimentation ideas. As a result, they’ve become a key forum for discussion and discovery.

During these meetings, teammates pitch tests, ask questions, and learn how RDM approaches experimentation. In doing so, they help keep innovation at the heart of our work.

Weekly Same-Page Manager Meetings

Our same-page meetings aren’t just about updates. Instead, they create a platform for collaboration and idea-sharing. These regular check-ins help teammates align priorities and brainstorm solutions.

For example, Justin, a new developer, suggested automating a settings update in his first week. His idea saved the team time and effort. Most importantly, it showed how curiosity leads to meaningful improvements—even early on.

Innovation Hall of Fame

Each quarter, we celebrate game-changing ideas through our Innovation Hall of Fame. This program honors individuals and teams who drive innovation through curiosity.

After submitting nominations, the best projects are reviewed and inducted. In short, it’s our way of recognizing breakthroughs that move Red Dog Media forward.

Core Values Final Thoughts

At Red Dog Media, curiosity is more than a mindset—it’s a cornerstone of our Core Values. It drives us to think boldly, solve creatively, and improve constantly.

From Tyler’s SQL innovation to Dan’s data experiments, curiosity fuels progress. Moreover, programs like our Innovation Hall of Fame and CRO office hours show how we turn ideas into action.
