AI at Red Dog Media: A Tool for Growth, Not a Replacement
At Red Dog Media, we see AI as an opportunity—not a threat. Innovation happens when people have the time and space to think critically, solve problems, and grow. That’s why we use AI strategically—to cut out busy work, boost productivity, and free up our teammates to focus on what really matters.
AI doesn’t replace people—it enhances what we do. It makes us faster, smarter, and more efficient. Instead of getting bogged down by repetitive tasks, all of our departments can focus on creativity, strategy, and innovation.
We believe the future of work isn’t humans vs. AI—it’s humans + AI working together to do more, better, and faster.
AI as an Advantage, Not a Replacement
Here’s how Brett R., our VP of Technology, puts it:
We’ve placed a pretty big emphasis on AI usage at Red Dog Media over the past couple of years. As the head of our software development department, I have been and continue to be excited about the potential of AI to make us more efficient at creating high-quality software. That said, I’m not too concerned about AI taking our jobs from us any time soon. Software is a deeply complex endeavor – it’s not just pumping out code. It also involves working with stakeholders, understanding requirements, and seeing and understanding the big picture end-to-end to develop the right solutions. AI has been a valuable tool for us, but it still struggles to fully grasp the complexities of human thought—context, creativity, and critical thinking—needed to deliver complete, independent solutions.”
Creating Space for Continuous Growth
The best part? AI keeps getting better the more we use it. By integrating AI into our workflows, we’re building an environment where curiosity, learning, and improvement never stop. Instead of replacing human expertise, AI helps refine it—allowing our team to grow, adapt, and take on new challenges.
Last year, our CEO, Bryce, launched a company-wide initiative for every teammate to learn prompt engineering and experiment with AI-driven solutions. This wasn’t just a one-time project; it sparked an ongoing conversation in our AI Chat Group, where teammates actively share new tools, breakthroughs, and ideas.
At Red Dog Media, AI isn’t a replacement; it’s a launchpad for us to be better than yesterday! We use it to automate busy work, optimize workflows, and enhance decision-making so our teammates can focus on work that truly moves the needle.
Our Development Department uses AI as a productivity booster—not a replacement. Every developer has a company-paid license for ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot, which integrates seamlessly with our Microsoft-based tools.
Here’s what a couple of our Developers had to say about these useful tools:
I use it to generate large blocks of code. I’ll provide a starting point and ask it to fill in the details. When guided properly, it works quite well—almost like having an extra set of hands for junior-level coding tasks. -Jonathan S.
(Copilot is) code autocomplete on steroids. – Ryan R.
And Brett agrees—it streamlines the coding process by suggesting helpful snippets and tackling repetitive, boilerplate tasks that don’t require much cognitive effort.
Beyond Code: Building AI-Powered Tools
But our Development Department isn’t just using AI—they’re building the tools that power AI across Red Dog Media.
One of our most powerful AI-driven tools is Workflow, a proprietary system used company-wide to keep projects running smoothly. AI automates updates, tracks tasks, and ensures nothing falls through the cracks.
We’ve even built a Custom GPT for workflow analysis that helps departments identify bottlenecks, flag inefficiencies, and recommend automation opportunities. The result? A smarter, more efficient way to work.
Now, let’s take a look at how our other departments are leveraging AI to make their work even more efficient and impactful.
How Other Departments Use AI
AI isn’t just for Development—it’s embedded across multiple departments at Red Dog Media. From Marketing and CRO to Operations Support, our departments are using AI to increase efficiency, improve decision-making, and free up time for high-impact work.
Here’s how each department is leveraging AI to enhance their workflows:
How Our Marketing Department Uses AI
Frees Up Time for Work That Matters
Nobody signs up for a job just to get stuck in repetitive, time-consuming tasks. AI helps our Marketing Department with things like:
Automating data entry
Sorting through large datasets
Generating reports
This gives our Marketing department more time for creative problem-solving, collaboration, and strategy.
Tori S., one of our Marketing Specialists put it this way:
AI has significantly lightened my workload by handling a lot of repetitive tasks in my day-to-day. For example, I use AI to quickly generate and refine ad copy variations while ensuring compliance with platform policies. It also helps me analyze performance trends, suggest optimizations, and even troubleshoot technical problems more efficiently. Because of this, I’ve been able to shift my focus toward higher-level strategy—experimenting with new targeting methods, refining bidding strategies, and staying ahead of industry trends. It’s also given me the bandwidth to explore career development opportunities, like learning more about consumer psychology and testing new marketing approaches beyond Pay Per Click (PPC Marketing).” – Tori S.
Supporting Smarter Decision-Making
AI doesn’t make decisions for us, but it helps us make better ones, faster. By analyzing trends and surfacing insights, AI allows our marketers to:
Optimize ad campaigns in real time.
Identify new growth opportunities before competitors do.
Make data-driven decisions that improve results.
Just as AI helps our Marketing department refine messaging and optimize campaigns, it also plays a key role in improving user experience and conversions.
How Our CRO Department Uses AI
Our CRO Department leverages AI to refine user experience, optimize conversion rates, and push the boundaries of innovation. AI-powered A/B test analysis allows us to quickly identify winning strategies, helping us make data-driven decisions faster and more accurately. Predictive user behavior modeling enhances our ability to anticipate how users will interact with our partner sites, allowing us to make adjustments that improve engagement and drive conversions.
AI-powered A/B test analysis helps us quickly identify what’s working.
Predictive user behavior modeling anticipates how visitors interact with our partner sites.
Custom GPT models act as test users, providing unique UX insights.
AI-generated hero images help create visually compelling experiences.
Taking AI even further, our CRO department has trained a custom GPT model to act as our target audience, providing unique UX insights from an end-user perspective—helping us refine website functionality and content. AI image generation tools are also being explored to create hero images for our website, investigating how AI can contribute to a more dynamic and visually compelling user experience. At Red Dog Media, AI isn’t just a tool—it’s an opportunity to evolve, innovate, and push conversion optimization to the next level.
How Our Operations Support Department Uses AI
AI-Powered Expense Tracking & Recruitment
For our Operations Department, AI simplifies financial processes and speeds up hiring.
Automated expense tracking reduces manual data entry.
AI-powered resume screening helps hiring managers focus on top talent instead of sifting through applications.
Making Employee Recognition Easier with AI
We believe in celebrating our department—and AI makes it even easier.
We trained a custom GPT to help craft personalized Core Value recognition messages, making it effortless to highlight contributions and reinforce our culture of appreciation.
Conclusion: AI as a Launchpad for the Future
At Red Dog Media, AI isn’t about replacing people—it’s about amplifying their impact.
From Development’s AI-powered tools to Marketing’s data-driven optimizations, from CRO’s UX insights to Operations’ process automation, AI is helping us work smarter. But it’s not doing the thinking for us—our expertise, creativity, and problem-solving skills are what truly set us apart.
That’s why we continue to invest in AI training, prompt engineering, and knowledge sharing. AI is just a tool—but how we use it makes all the difference.
