Grab Attention with Your Resume

01

Include Contact Information

Make sure your contact information is up-to-date. We want to reach you easily, so include your phone number, email, and where you’re currently based. This helps us determine if commuting or relocation might be a factor for you.

02

Tell Your Story

Your resume tells your professional story before you even walk into the interview. Help us understand your journey by building a clear timeline.

Click this dropdown to see the questions you should be answering!

What school did you attend?
What specific degree did you receive?
What year did you graduate?

Career

How long did you hold each position?
What was your position title?

Do you need to explain any gaps between positions?
Do you have short stints you need to clarify (e.g. laid off, contract ended, etc.)?

03

Keep it Short and Simple

Long resumes can be overwhelming, so stick to the highlights. Use 3-5 bullet points for each role to show your key responsibilities and achievements. Focus on impact, not filler.

Here’s an easy way to summarize: Accomplished X as measured by Y doing Z.

It may also be beneficial to highlight the tasks or projects that reflect the type of work you want to continue doing in order to attract similar roles.

04

Be Honest and Accurate

We rely on your resume to guide our interview questions, so don’t list skills you’re not confident discussing. Focus on the things you’ve mastered and can talk about in depth. It’s about quality, not quantity—show us the depth of your experience!

05

Proofread

Attention to detail matters. Before submitting, take the time to proofread for spelling, grammar, and formatting consistency. Also, check that your timeline does not contain conflicting information or gaps that could raise questions.

Interview Advice to Help You Shine

We want you to feel confident and prepared when you interview with us. Here are some tips to help you make the best impression!

Focus on Data

We love seeing the numbers behind your success! Be ready to show us the impact of your achievements:

  • What did you accomplish?
  • How did you do it?
  • What was the outcome?
  • How does it relate to the role you’re applying for?

An easy equation: Accomplished X as measured by Y doing Z.

Recall Your Professional Wins

Take some time before the interview to refresh your memory on the projects you’ve worked on and the successes you’ve had. It’s easy to forget key details under pressure, so ensure you’re ready to discuss the highlights of your career.

We want you to express your ideas and explain your thought process!

Most of the questions we tend to ask during our interview process are “Tell me about a time when…” or “How did you approach that situation…?” These questions leave room for clarification, and we hope to dive deeper.

Review the Resources

We’ve provided a lot of information to help you prepare—check out our website, blog, and social media channels for insights into our company culture, team, and projects. Many of your questions might already be answered there!

For reference, here are a few places you could start:

Come Ready with Questions

We want this to be a two-way conversation, so bring any questions you have about the role, the team, or our culture. It’s important that you find out if this is the right fit for you, too.

  • Know the Process: Familiarize yourself with the interview format, whether it’s a phone call, virtual, or in-person.
  • Check Your Tech: If you’re interviewing via Google Meet, take some time to prepare your space – a quiet area with a good internet connection and access to a mic and video camera. It may also benefit you to have a pen and paper accessible to jot down any important notes during your call.
  • Give Yourself Plenty of Time: If your interview is in person, ensure you know how to navigate to the office and prepare for any traffic or extra commute time necessary. It never hurts to show up early and sit in the waiting room until it’s time to meet the team.
  • Take a Deep Breath: It’s normal to feel a bit nervous, but we want this to be a relaxed, open conversation. Take a moment to collect your thoughts and take a few deep breaths before the interview starts.

We appreciate your interest in Red Dog Media and look forward to learning more about you!

Good luck—and don’t forget to enjoy the process.
